Join CHARM!
The Cooperative Huntsville Area Rainfall Measurements (CHARM) network is comprised of volunteers who take
daily rainfall measurements every morning. The composition of volunteers ranges from middle school students
to PhD scientists. We'd love to have you join. The only requirements are a rain gauge (which we can provide),
a computer with internet access, and a willingness to participate by checking your rain gauge each morning.
No prior training or education is necessary, and there are some very excellent training materials online we
can refer you to for a quick primer. If you live in Madison County, the east side of Limestone, or the north bit
of Morgan, you'd fit nicely into the CHARM network. We are also part of a larger state and national network of
rain gauges, CoCoRaHS (Community Collaborative Rain Hail and Snow network), and the data we collect is forwarded
to them to be part of their effort as well.
My name is Erik, and I handle a lot of the day-to-day oversight of the CHARM network, web site, and database.
