Training Notes:

  • This training package provides some basic information on how a new MODIS product “false color snow imagery” can be used to monitor snow cover and to distinguish between snow cover and clouds.
  • The image at the right is an example of the product produced from a combination of 3 MODIS channels. The product is available at 500m resolution for day light passes.
  • The charts touch on basic remote sensing theory, how the product is generated, and provides examples and interpretation of the products. Additional sources of information are provide as well.
